For the French Toast
- 1 1-pound loaf French bread, cut diagonally into 1-inch slices
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 ½ cups half-and-half cream
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
For the Syrup Topping
- ¾ cup butter
- 1 ⅓ cups brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons light corn syrup
Butter a 9x13-inch baking dish and arrange bread slices in the bottom.
In a large bowl, beat together eggs, milk, half-and-half, vanilla, and cinnamon. Pour over bread and refrigerate overnight.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Heat butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup in a saucepan until bubbling.
Pour syrup over the bread mixture.
Bake uncovered for 40 minutes.
