Ingredients
  

  • 1 ½ lbs. ground beef
  • 1 cup onion finely chopped
  • 1 cup green bell pepper finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese for stuffing
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  • Sauté onions, green peppers, and garlic until softened.
  • Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, oregano, and basil.
  • Press half of the mixture into the pan, top with cheese, then cover with the remaining meat mixture.
  • Bake for 1 hour at 350°F (175°C).
  • Let rest for 10 minutes, slice, and serve!

Notes

  • Cheese Options: Provolone, mozzarella, or a provolone-mozzarella blend work great.
  • Make Ahead: You can assemble the meatloaf the night before and refrigerate. Bake the next day as directed.
